Getting Around

Transfer from the Airport
The San Diego International Airport is located approximately ten minutes from the San Diego Marriott Marquis Hotel & Marina.  Visitors can obtain a taxi from the airport to the hotel for an approximate one-way fare of $15, or make shuttle arrangements with one of the many independent van/shuttle service providers.  Please note, the Marriott does not offer shuttle service to/from the Airport. For departure from the San Diego International Airport, passengers should allow adequate time to travel to the airport by their preferred means of transportation taking into account traffic and time of day. Plan to arrive at the airport at least three hours in advance for international flights and two hours in advance for domestic flights.

About San Diego

San Diego offers an expansive variety of things to see and do, appealing to guests of all ages from around the world. It is California’s second largest city and the United States’ eighth largest. The borders of San Diego County encompass numerous charming neighborhoods and communities, including downtown’s historic Gaslamp Quarter, Little Italy, Coronado, La Jolla, Del Mar, Carlsbad, Escondido, La Mesa, Hillcrest, Barrio Logan and Chula Vista, just to name a few.

San Diego County’s terrain varies greatly by region. The East offers gentle foothills to 1,600 meter/one mile-high mountains and the 243,000 hectare/600,000-acre Anza-Borrego Desert State Park offering nature-conscious visitors endless opportunities to hike, camp, fish, and observe wildlife. The North has a large agricultural community producing flowers, produce, and wine. Along the West, 110 km/70 miles of Pacific Ocean coastline not only supports year-round outdoor recreation, such as surfing, boating, sailing, and swimming, but also important scientific research at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. To the South is the country of Mexico, featuring its own cultural offerings in various towns along the border and coastline, including Tijuana, Rosarito, and Ensenada.

The most difficult decision to make regarding a visit to San Diego is determining what to do and see among the region’s vast and diverse offerings. San Diego County promises a truly remarkable experience for everyone.

WHEN AND WHERE?

On 17-22 September 2012, the United States will play host to the world’s standardization community as the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) welcomes ISO to San Diego, California. The official venue is the San Diego Marriott Marquis Hotel & Marina– a full- service hotel and meeting center located in downtown San Diego, just two miles from the San Diego International Airport.
